Project: H.D. Woodson High School Location: Washington, D.C. Client: Cox Graae & Spack Date: 6/1/2009 12:00:00 AM Description: As a model STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) school for replication across the country, Polysonics coordinated closely with the Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO), OPEFM (Office of Public Education Facilities Modernization) and the architectural design team, to provide cutting-edge design solutions for this highly innovative Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics school.
Scope of work included an IPTV media retrieval and television distribution system, paging system, clock and bell system, closed-circuit television surveillance, door access control, a full package of theatre systems, and audio/video systems for 40 classrooms, numerous collaboration and video teleconferencing spaces, band and choir rooms, football stadium, two gymnasia, a natatorium and other multipurpose athletic spaces. Each classroom contains both an interactive white board and a ceiling-mounted video projector such that two separate video sources can be viewed simultaneously.
This project featured a media control center (MCC) and production studio for students to experience the latest in audio and video projection. Fiber optic cable provides connectivity from each athletic space (and the theatre) to the MCC where students can mix and capture the live video for rebroadcast or archive. The MCC also provides centralized video teleconferencing such that the theatre, student dining area or a forum space can be used for a scheduled video teleconference. The system rides on the district-wide network, providing centralized bandwidth/firewall management. Details: IPTV media retrieval
