Project: Midtown Springfield Location: Fairfax County, Virginia Client: KSI Date: 2/1/2005 12:00:00 AM Description: The Midtown Springfield site is located at the northwest corner of junction between I-95 and VA 644-Old Keene Mill Road. The site is bound by I-95 to the east, VA 789-Commerce Street to the north and VA 644-Old Keene Mill Road to the south.
Traffic Noise Analysis: Polysonics conducted a 24-hour noise survey to determine traffic noise impact from I-95, Commerce Street and Old Keene Mill Road upon the property. In addition to noise measurements, 10 minute peak-hour traffic counts of significant roadways around the interchange were taken. This information is used to understand traffic composition (passenger cars, medium trucks and heavy trucks) and volumes that contributed to the recorded noise levels. Determine future noise levels: Utilizing noise level measurements from our survey, future traffic noise levels, accounting for estimated projected traffic volumes, were calculated using Federal Highway Administration's Traffic Noise Prediction Model (TNM). TNM is a 3-dimensional computer model that determines noise levels from a roadway or combination of roadways and can be utilized to find traffic noise impact to surrounding areas.
