Description: This 100,000 square foot center on Penn State University’s Main Campus needed Polysonics’ acoustical and audio-visual design services in the Alumni Center Multi-Purpose Room. The requirements included a video presentation system as well as voice reinforcement and background music systems. Polysonics developed acoustical criteria for all rooms including Sound Transmission Class (STC) ratings for walls, doors, and floor/ceiling constructions to maintain acoustical isolation. We also incorporated Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) ratings for acoustical finishes to provide proper reverberation times and maximum Noise Criterion (NC) levels for mechanical systems to maintain low noise levels.
